"We The market entrance, as featured on so many postcards and souvenirs, would be irreparably damaged.  The proposed 14-story tower would be a monstrous blight on the Pike Place Market.  No new building, however well-designed, would give the same experience."

"We have fought to preserve this heart of our city for the past 50 years.  The potential for a string of tall structures across from the market is all too real as Seattle loses its history in a headlong building spree.  We need a creative solution from our public officials to preserve the character of this historic Market entrance."
